BSNL is acclaimed for being the first ISP to introduce economy level 2mbps packages (With Data limits but Unlimited usage from 2am to 8am to most of the home plans). BSNL is perhaps the most popular ISP in India currently with the largest install base as the company has one major advantage of having a widespread telephone network which enables them to reach the remotest areas in the country. Other telecom companies in India have asked the government to force BSNL to make accessible this network for a fee. But BSNL has opposed this idea. If they make available this extensive network to other companies for a fee, they could boost the availability of internet services in India.
