Setting up a wireless router to use Airtel Broadband is quite simple, and should not take you more than 10 - 15 minutes. I have written this guide for a Linksys WRT54G. (1) Open your modem page (it is [1] for Beetel 220bx modem) and enter the following details Username: admin password: password Click on the Lan option of the left and side, and then disable DHCP. I'll assume your modem is in bridge mode already (pppoe) (2) Shut down your computer, your wireless router, and your modem. Connect the Ethernet cable that goes from your modem to the port marked Internet on your router. Connect another Ethernet cable to your desktops' Ethernet port from one of the 4 other ports on the router. (3) Startup your modem, wireless router and computer in that order. Wait till each device is fully powered up before continuing to the next one (4) Open the Router page using [2] Username: admin Password: admin (5) Click on the basic setup tab. You will need to modify the following details: PPPOE: (drop down menu option) Username: Your account username Password: Your password Connect on Demand: Max idle time: 9999 min Router name: WRT54G DHCP Server: Enable Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.2 Save the settings (6) Click on the Status tab, and click connect. (7) To change your wireless security details (recommended), click on wireless>wireless security and select a protection mode ( I use WPA personal). Enter the details as required, and you are finished. Your desktop is now connected directly to the internet, and any other wifi enabled computers can share the internet after entering the network key. Notes: Update as of 12/11/07 |
